South Australian plums are in season which means it’s time to get pickling, poaching, grilling and saucing in support of our local plum growers.

With the cooler weather upon us there’s nothing quite like a plum pie or a rich plum sauce to sweeten a dish. Plums pair perfectly with chicken, pork, prosciutto and duck are a great friend to almonds, hazelnuts, cinnamon, honey, ginger, vanilla and red wine. Try plums alongside other produce lines such as citrus, raspberries, berries, rocket and even goats cheese.

Our new season plum varieties all hail from Coromandel Valley, where the perfect growing conditions (cool days and crisp nights) reward us with beautifully ripened, well flavoured fruit. Our local Hills growers have a wide selection of plum varieties available from early January through to Early/Mid April that is the pick of the stonefruit season and well worth the wait.
